Enough signatures have officially been gathered to recall CA State Senator Josh Newman. Much to the chagrin of the CA (D)s about 1/10th of the 930K residents of Senate District 29 have added their signatures to the effort to remove him from office.
It is my intention to run in the recall election for State Senate in California’s 29th District. I’ve had many long conversations with family and friends about this issue. I have surveyed the political landscape and have waited for other people to volunteer themselves for consideration. For months, no one has stepped forward publicly to voice their intention to run. In fact, the loudest pro-recall voices out there right now are from outside the district. We have potential candidates from all over the state announcing their bids for Governor and Senate next year, but there is a void in the recall election — an election that is rapidly approaching.
I have been vocal in my support for this recall for months now. I’ve been hoping someone would step forward to champion the interests of the working folks of California. I have offered my support to people who said they wanted to run, only to be met with inaction and disappointment.
